Since 1998 Beatriz has written thirty dramatic works. Her playwriting career began with the publication of “Bedsheets”, her first short play in 1998. “Vitro”, her first full-length play was published and represented in the year 2000. Since then her dramatic works have been presented at theaters all over the world. Her writing is known for using genre in accordance with the theme of the play.
From high budget sci-fi texts to fake documentaries, from non-structured tragedies to site-specific romantic comedies, Zoom plays, Skype shows to be performed for one audience member at a time, and plays commissioned by specific companies, even the first play ever written for FacebookLive and a Postdramatic Absurd Comedy.

LIFE IS A DREAM
Life is a Dream, by Beatriz Cabur, is a one actor journey through the backstories of the characters in the original play, written by Calderón de la Barca in 1635, to explore its main themes (power, trauma, rape, oppression, ageism…) and how they manifest in our present world and in ourselves. CHILDBIRTH-19
Childbirth-19 is a new digital theatre play specifically written to be performed online. The play depicts childbirth in times of Covid-19 and tackles how the experience of pregnancy and labour is shaped by systemic trauma, as due to coronavirus, childbirth interventions and mistreatments have increased, disregarding women’s needs and rights. “Childbirth-19” premiered in Zoom and Youtube, and can be watched here.

GOODBYE, MOTHER
“Absolutely incredible piece, very difficult to watch”. A powerful internal monologue of a woman while being beaten up by her husband. “Goodbye, Mother” was produced by Yellow Coat Theatre Company, a feminist theatre company making work that centres womens’ voices and experiences. Directed by Caron Kehoe, and performed by Alexis Coward, “Goodbye, Mother” premiered in London, at the Drayton Arms Theatre on the 11th of March, 2020.

LIL’ BIRD 2
In April 2018, Beatriz wrote “Lil’ Bird 2, the sequel”. The second play she has written for Facebook Live. A year after “Lil’ Bird”, facebook reminded Beatriz and Carolina Lapausa, that they did that crazy thing so they decided to do it again but bigger (with five actresses), better (more locations, more livestreams) and funnier (casting a dog to just top the crazyness). Synopsis: A very lively little girl starts livestreaming herself through Facebook Live, it is the day after she’s been released from jail, her mother cannot believe how someone who went to jail for livestreaming herself is doing it again, but she doesn’t care about what her mother thinks, or does she? “Lil’ Bird 2” premiered on Facebook Live on May 23, 2018. PIGWASH
In December 2017, Beatriz wrote “Pigwash” as a reaction to a text message written in Chinese. The play, written in Spanish is a Post Dramatic Absurd Comedy for five characters. Synopsis: There are five characters in this play, a Male Light, an Executive, the Crescent Moon, an Executive in another language and a Website during Summertime, they do things, say stuff, sing and die and The Internet disappears for ever (oh, the peace). THE MIND-BOGGLING SHRINKING WOMAN
In May 2017, Beatriz wrote the short play “The Mind-Boggling Shrinking Woman” commisioned by Procreate Project, as a part of the symposium “OXYTOCIN, Birthing the world” that took place on Saturday, June 3rd at the Royal College of Art in London. Synopsis: A man performs the journey a woman endures from being regular sized to a barely noticeable, almost impossible to be heard miniature of herself. The text reflects on how the treatment provided by the medical profession during the pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, delivery and post-partum time impacts on the body and mind of women. READ MORE

In April 2017, Beatriz wrote the short play “Lil’ Bird” as a request by Carolina Lapausa, a brilliant actress trying to escape the kind of roles the industry is offering her. Synopsis: A very lively little girl starts livestreaming herself through facebook live, everything seems normal until she reveals to her friends that’s she’s going to be in front of a jury the following day. BREAKFAST AT DADDY’S
In July 2016, Beatriz wrote the play “Breakfast at Daddy’s”. It premiered in New York in Autumn 2016, as part of a project coordinated by Partly Cloudy People in partnership with The Seedling Company. Synopsis: “Breakfast at Daddy’s” shows a girl and her father in their kitchen, waiting for it to be the time for her to go get an abortion, she thinks her father supports her but things are not what we expect. NEFERTITI & BEEP
In October 2015, Beatriz presented the play “NEFERTITI & BEEP” at the Sala Berlanga in Madrid. Synopsis: Both Nefertiti and a contemporary alive archaeologist, whose name can not be said, show how “The Men’s Club” rules the world, but it wasn’t always like this and we can change it back again. Can’t we? This play is part of an international playwriting project called 365 Women A Year. It involves female playwrights from all over the world who have signed on to write one or more one-acts about extraordinary women in both past and present history. The project’s ambitious yet focused goal is to write women back into the social consciousness as well as empower and promote female playwrights around the country. While doing so one of the best outcomes is that great roles for female actresses get written, so 365WAY is covering three areas at a time. After achieving its ambitious goal the project is right now on its third edition.
THE-AROUND-THE-WORLD-CHAIN-PLAY
In March 2013, Beatriz contributed to the play “The Around The World Chain Play“. Starting and ending in NYC, a play is being written as it travels around the world, making 16 stops with playwrights from across the globe. Each playwright is contributing one to five pages of text, moving the plot forward from where the previous playwright left off. The Staged Reading of the First Annual “Around The World Chain Play” will be on Wednesday, March 27th at 7:00 PM. To be performed at The Lark Play Development Center (311 West 43rd Street, NYC).
THE CHEF
In January 2013, Beatriz wrote the play “THE CHEF”. “The Chef” premièred on February 5th in New York as part of the international Production LONG DISTANCE AFFAIR. This play has been represented within the series of shows InterTeatro in Milan, March 7th, 2013. The Chef kept cooking for us in New York at the Rough Draft Fest on April 12th. It’ll be on the TimeWave festival in London on June 19th and at the Edinburgh Festival this summer. Synopsis: “The Chef” is a interactive show about a cook that tries to get the main role in a television show in The Food Network in the US.
SUITE 207
In January 2012, Beatriz co-wrote and co-directed the play “Suite 207“. “Suite 207” premiered in New Jersey as part of the international Production Hotel Project. Synopsis: “Suite 207” is a high energy romantic comedy about the wedding day of a blue-blooded couple who experience pure chaos moments before the ceremony. The best man and the maid of honor are secretly against the union, and after a series of hilarious misunderstandings, they attempt to convince the groom and bride to call everything off. READ MORE
8 MINUTES
In 2010, Beatriz co-wrote alongside Alex Ríos the film titled “8 minutes“. “8 minutes” was first conceived as a commercial for an Airsoft company, but ended up being a 18 minute long film produced by ODYSA PRO in collaboration with Filmstyle and Plastic Warriors, Esrealgame, 020 Magazine, Pamtgn.com and Elite-Safe.es. Synopsis: A dictator is arrested and held in prison for war crimes. The new government requires evidences to bring him to justice. The prosecutor’s assistants, protected by their bodyguards, visit the prison where the tortures took place. Followers of the assassin want to keep their former leaders reputation and thus prevent the proof of his crimes to be discovered. Two sisters will fight to the death to defend what they believe in, but unfortunately they are not on the same side.
THE EMPIRICIST, THE STORY OF RICHARD HARTMANN
Short movie written and filmed in 2009 and selected in 2011 by the FilmDemic Screening Series to screen in Los Angeles, New York and other cities across the USA. Synopsis: Richard Hartmann is a doctor with a rare condition that will lead him to a certain death sooner rather than later. This certainty makes him want to experiment the different ways and forms of dying. He conducts a wide study with hundreds of subjects in which everyone behaves the same way no matter how he kills them – that is until he finds a girl that faces death differently. READ MORE
THE RISE AND FALL OF ERIKA ADLER
Written for the “Es Generador Festival, 2006” in Mallorca. “The Rise and Fall of Erika Adler” is a documentary theatre production that premiered as one of the opening acts of the festival. Synopsis: Erika Adler is a fictional character created around real historical events and real characters in an effort to create the illusion of reality. Erika was born in 1890 in Vienna and is the daughter of the famous psychiatrist Alfred Adler and his secret mistress. Sick of the hard education she has been subjected to, Erika became the rebel who started a whole social movement that shakes contemporary youth throughout the world. READ MORE
ROLLERWORLD
Beatriz was the Scripts Doctor on this movie filmed in Madrid in 2005, produced by TAI Productions. The project involved filming a 90 minute movie with nine different teams led by nine emerging directors. Each director was responsible of 10 minutes of filming. Beatriz was responsible to ensure the homogeneity of the style of the scripts, the continuity of the plot, subplots, characters, development and was also in charge of the overall supervision of the screenwriting.
ROLLERBLADING
Written in 2004-2005. A play involving 19 actors as well as professional athletes. The play included extreme stunts, flying characters, big screens and aggressive rollerblading live. The final production was so huge that it had to be staged in a five story disco. “Rollerblading” premiered in Joy Eslava, in Madrid, on June 13th, 2005. Synopsis: Jack Powell, a very talented rollerblader, is headhunted by a company that wishes to associate his image with their products. His girlfriend and his best friend are trying to be part of the deal while Jack is trying to keep the sport out of the business world. On stage, Jack’s six basic emotions are represented by actors, sometimes as a Greek chorus, sometimes just as themselves. Jack realizes that the Surprise, the Fear, the Sadness, the Aversion, the Rage and the Joy must be defeated if he wishes to achieve his goals. READ MORE
LA FIESTA NACIONAL
Written in 2004 for the graduating class of the Scenic Arts Degree at TAI in which Beatriz was teaching Performing Arts. The play has a mathematically structured organization that gives each and every actor the same number of lines and stage time. Premiered at the Ítaca Theatre in Madrid, June, 2004. Synopsis: A bullfighter, a geisha, a fishmonger, a priest, a truck driver, a nurse, a spy, a cowboy and eleven other characters fight to fulfill their destinies in this crazy comedy.
YASDÚIT
Yasdúit was written in 2003, following the “Play for a specific group of actors” structure. Four actors choose the profession of their characters, an object and a sentence and with this data Beatriz wrote a play to include them all. Pre-Premiered at the Francisco Rabal Theatre, Pinto, Madrid on 2003. Synopsis: Yasdúit is a retired tennis player turned alcoholic who was once the number one ranked player in the Association of Tennis Professionals. A writer wants to publish his unauthorized biography while Yasdúit is trying to quit alcohol with the help of a Psychiatrist. The shrink’s sister is a lawyer who defends the writer and nobody knows how close they all are until Yasdúit is invited by a TV Show in which he decides to ruin the unauthorized biography by exposing all his dark secrets himself.
FUNNY PLAY
Horror play, written in 2002 adapting Michael Haneke‘s Funny Games to the stage. Premiered at the Johnny on January, 24th 2002. Presented at the Mara Hall Residence on December, 1st 2002. Synopsis: During the winter break three young friends hold a couple and their blind sister hostage in a secluded house while torturing them with sadistic games.
RONENSBOURGH
AKA HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WE HAVE ENDED UP IN RONENSBOURGH? Written in 2002. Selected for the FringePraga Festival, 2004. Represented within the series of shows InterTeatro in Milan, February 21st, 2013. Synopsis: The Heibers are a regular family in an irregular situation. They live in a decadent world ruled by a system that no longer works. Meanwhile a group of aristocrats, ruled by Helmut Ronen, are creating the perfect city as an answer to all of society’s problems. Ronensbourgh is finally built and it works because it has a new language and form of communication that does not contemplate violence – but if you want to move to Ronensbourgh get ready to be lobotomized. THE EURORONDE
Play written in 2001 for the closing occasion of “European year of the Languages”. “The Euroronde” is a multimedia show commissioned by the Community of Madrid. Presented at El Palacio de Congresos on December, 11th 2001. Synopsis: Based on the dramatic structure of Arthur Schnitzler’s “La Ronde“, instead of transmitting a sexual disease, in “The Euroronde” the characters pass a dictionary from one to another. This way the ability to speak different languages is spread throughout all social classes. The dictionary makes them better people, more comprehensive, more empathetic and all their problems are solved by the power of language.
MA SERÁ THIS NACHT SÛR / TOP SECRET
Play written in 2001 for the opening acts of “European year of the Languages” commissioned by the Cervantes Institute. Premiered on September 26th, 2001 at the Valle Inclán Theatre in Madrid. Presented at the Biteri Kultur, Hernani and at the Sala Pradillo in Madrid, 2003. Synopsis: A Spaniard, an Englishman, a German, an Italian and a French woman meet in Geneva to plan the largest theft ever accomplished…but nothing is as it seems and no one is who they claim to be. A local policeman and a bike messenger will fight against both the system and the Georgian Mafia to solve the huge mystery that lies beneath the fake identities of all the characters. READ MORE

Written during 1999-2000, this play has been published by the “Editorial Fundamentos, Colección Espiral”, Madrid, 2000. “Vitro” is available to buy online at Fundamentos Publishing. “Vitro” premiered in the Lorca Theatre, RESAD, May, 10th, 2000, Madrid. Synopsis: The technology to replicate humans has been stolen and whoever has it holds the power to rule the world. Throughout this suspenseful mystery, two ‘heroes’ relate their stories in order to decipher who truly possesses the secrets to immortality. READ MORE
CUADRO DE SÁBANAS
Written in 1998, this play has been published by the Writing and Theatre Sciences Department, Madrid, 1999. “Cuadro de sábanas” is available to buy online at Prometeo Publishing. Synopsis: Two girls debate truth, lies, relationships and the morality of cheating while they make the bed after one of them slept there the night before with a married man.
EL MUNDO ES CUADRADO
Written in 1998 while Beatriz was teaching theatre to kids. “El mundo es cuadrado” premiered at the Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmerón, Madrid, 1998. Synopsis: Conspiracies and plots to steal a software empire from his creator, Mr. Rowley. Elsa, Rowley’s wife and her evil friend Jeremy get to put Mr. Rowley into a mental hospital. Undercover in that same hospital there’s a detective investigating another case but Mr. Rowley’s kids, very very tricky kids, are going to be the ones that save the day.
ZAPPING
Written in 1998. “Zapping” premiered at the Centro Cultural Pintor Rosales, Madrid, 1998. Synopsis: “Zapping” is the story of a couple planning their next summer holidays during the night. They want to leave the grandmother in a residency and that’s why their plotting that late in the night. Meanwhile the huge television is always on and they keep zapping from one show to another. Their teenage son arrives home drunk waking up the grandmother that, because of a mental problem is only able to express herself by using popular quotes. With all the members of the house in the same room things get awkward.
DISCOVERINGS
Written in 1999. This play is the first one of a series of plays written specifically for the group of actors that are going to play it for the first time. 25 actors, in this case, had to choose the profession of their characters, one object and one sentence. With this data Beatriz wrote a play including them all. After this experience she perfected the method developing a mathematically structured organization that gives to each and every actor the same number of lines and on-stage time. The objective was to write fair plays to be performed by theatre students. “Discoverings” premiered at the Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmerón, Madrid, 1999. Synopsis: “Discoverings” is a play about a group of friends that start dating and going out and how they behave in a lot of brand new situations, how some of them made the right decisions and some others made terrible mistakes that could shape their personalities and even their destinies. Ultimately this play is about all the changes children go through during their teenage and how to become responsible, healthy and happy adults.
¡N0! ¡IMPOSIBLE!
Written in 1999. “¡No! ¡Imposible!” premiered at the Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmerón, Madrid, 1999. Synopsis: “A scientist, a professor and an archaeologist working in their respective fields make the same discovery at the very same moment and it’s alien related. The plot unfolds in really really mysterious ways until one politician allied with a little dancer save the world changing the course of history.”
HORATIO IS ALIVE
“Horatio is alive” is a version of Hamlet that starting from the last scene in which Hamlet asks Horatio to tell his story the plays goes backwards. Written in 2000. “Horatio is alive” premiered at the Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmerón, Madrid, 2000. Synopsis: Old Hamlet, King of Denmark, is dead and has been succeeded by his brother. The new king has also married Gertrude, the widowed queen. Hamlet, Gertrude’s son, is already distressed by his father’s death and the hasty remarriage; when his father’s ghost appears to tell him that he was murdered by his own brother, Hamlet vows revenge. To cover his intentions, he feigns madness. Polonius, councillor to the court, whose daughter Ophelia is all but betrothed to Hamlet, believes that his madness is caused by love. Spied on by Polonius and the king, Hamlet encounters Ophelia and violently rejects her. A company of actors arrives and Hamlet asks them to perform a play, hoping that its similarity to the murder of his own father will force the king to reveal his guilt. Hamlet’s suspicions are confirmed. He visits his mother, reviling her for her hasty marriage, and accidentally kills Polonius, who is hiding in the chamber. The king sends Hamlet to England, planning to have him murdered. Laertes, Polonius’ son, demands revenge for his father’s death. His sister, Ophelia, maddened by grief, has drowned. Hamlet returns and confronts Laertes at her funeral. The king, meanwhile, has plotted with Laertes to kill Hamlet in a fencing match in which Laertes will have a poisoned sword. The plot miscarries and Laertes dies. Gertrude drinks from a poisoned cup intended for Hamlet, and also dies. Hamlet, wounded by the poisoned sword, kills the king before he, too, dies. Young Fortinbras of Norway arrives and lays claim to the throne of Denmark. The RSC
